Mysore City

Varakodu School
Ananda, a 10th std student of Varakodu Govt high School, living in Varakodu, a small village about 20 Kms away from Mysore is the first generation school goer in the family. Father is a barber and mother works as a daily wager.

Self motivated Ananda topped the school with 87% in the 10th std exam. The school teachers and management decided to sponsor Ananda for his further education. School teachers got him enrolled for 3 years diploma course in electronics. While at school, the boy was exposed to DE for 1 year and was very confident in the use of office tool.

Confident of his interest, spoke and requested head of the dept at his college for change from electronics to computer science branch and he insisted that his request be accomplished, otherwise he would discontinue his studies. Taken back by this boy, the head of the dept was curious to know where was Ananda exposed to computers. He promptly attributed to AIF DE program and the opportunity given to him for life.

This is the 2nd year of his diploma. When he is free, Ananda helps the facilitator at school and sometimes spends time with the middle school children in the DE lab. The village is really proud of Ananda.

Ashokapuram School
This school started in 2003 with just 3 permanent teachers. DE has been quite successful despite less no: of teachers in school. One of the domestic helpers at school names Kumuda, who keeps the lab clean has become a computer savvy.

With no education background, working as a domestic helper in the school, is able to make presentation, type question papers and teach computers to other children. Kumuda saw computers for the first time when they were installed in the school. Instincts work so well that small troubleshoots are handled by Kumuda.
