Please note – these are two separate grants but implemented in same geographic area and the same program activities. For this reason, the description is combined. These are two organizations based in tribal districts of western Orissa, from where huge distress migration takes place to brick kilns of Hyderabad in Andhra Pradesh.

The NGO Yusuf Meherally Centre (YMC) has been working in Mundra taluka (block), Kutch since 1996. Some of the activities of YMC include working for communal harmony, rehabilitation in cyclone and earthquake relief work, and access to basic health and education facilities.

Vimochana: Belgaum, Karnataka (2006) for three years ($ 104,000)
Vimochana is an organization working in the northern area of Karnataka. This year we are entering into partnerships with them to work for the education of Devadasi children and other scheduled caste community children in the area.

This year, we plan to start our intervention for 5,000 street children in Delhi. Samya will implement the program through an AIF MOU that has been formally signed with Yusuf Meherally Centre.

Child in Need Institute(CINI) Asha: (2004, 2005) West Bengal ($ 22,945)
CINI Asha is one of the leading organizations working in the area of health and education in the eastern part of India. AIF is supporting a project for education of children of sex workers. CINI, which is based in Calcutta, has been running a program for these children on a small scale, in a red light area of the city called Rambagan.
