PROF. ANITA DIGHE
Director, Campus of Open Learning
University of Delhi

Anita Dighe joined University of Delhi as Director, Campus of Open Learning, in June 2002. Earlier, she worked as Director, Centre for Extension Education, at the Indira Gandhi National Open University.

Her academic career spans diverse disciplines. Starting her career as a college teacher of English, she was awarded the Fulbright Scholarship to the U.S. to specialise in the teaching of English to speakers of other languages. Subsequently, she developed interest in communications and mass media ressearch that led to her doctoral degree. In the last three decades, she has done considerable work in the field of adult and non formal education, with a special focus on gender issues in literacy. Presently, she is working in the field of distance education and open learning and has been concerned about how technology can be used appropriately to promote learning. She has participated in a large number of international meetings/workshops and presented papers and has been a resource person/consultant to Unesco for some of the regional meetings/workshops.
